An Inter School Shloka Recitation Competition by IQF (Indus Quality Foundation) was recently hosted by Ahlcon International School, Delhi. The chief guest on the occasion was Mr. C.V. Gopinath (a senior Technocrat and at present working as Deputy Director General in Ministry of Communications) has been an ardent lover of Indian Culture and has also made three documentaries on it .Mr. Sanjay Singh and Mr. Himadri Choudhary (IQF officials) also graced the occasion.
As many as 13 schools participated from in and around Delhi. The judges were: Mr. Sudhisth Kumar Acharya, Ms. Anupama Sharma and Dr. Nirupama Sharma.
The Lighting of the lamp was followed by the Shanti Paath and beautifully choreographed Durga Stuti by Akshi Sangra of X-A.
The Principal, Mr. Ashok K Pandey, welcomed Mr. C.V. Gopinath and felt blessed by his gracious presence. Speaking on the occasion, he said that all the languages being taught in the school were given equal importance and the different activities organized in the school from time to time served as a platform for the overall development of the students.
In the competition ,there were two categories: - junior group(classes vi to viii),senior group(classes ix to xii).The chanting of the Shlokas by the participants reverberated in the auditorium and kindled a feeling of divinity amongst the audience. In both the categories, Khaitan Public School, Noida bagged the 1st prize.Bal Bharti Public School,Noida stood second and Army Public School,Noida stood third.Vishwa Bharti Public school,Noida got the second and Mother Teresa Public School,Preet Vihar stood third in the junior category.The chief guest gave away the certificates and trophies to the winners and congratulated them.He left a delible impact on all by his eloquent recitation of mantras and shlokas. Mr. C.V.Gopinath with examples established that all the knowledge of Science,Music etc.is already present in our Vedas.In his message, he reiterated that the students should know their Indian culture and its languages,especially, the Sanskrit language.
The program was a real success .The guests were presented mementos and a vote of thanks was proposed by Ms. Mahua Mallick.The program was a platform to sensitize the students of their roots,culture and heritage.
